Sir Lancelot is a Dutch family-owned company with over 15 years of experience in the equestrian world.

What started as a father’s determination to give his two young daughters the best possible protection grew into something much bigger. Where are Sir Lancelot body protectors made?

Sir Lancelot is a Dutch/European brand. All products are developed and designed in the Netherlands and fully comply with European PPE regulations.

Safety & Certification

Are Sir Lancelot body protectors certified?

Yes. Our body protectors (8-Point Fit™ and TobyMax) are certified to EN 13158:2018 Level 3 — the highest protection level in Europe. They are tested by Alienor Certification and approved by SGS. Our back protectors (3X and NEXTONE) meet EN 1621-2:2014 Level 2.

What does EN 13158:2018 Level 3 mean?

EN 13158:2018 is the current European standard for equestrian body protectors. Level 3 is the highest level and is recommended for show jumping, eventing, cross-country and working with young or untrained horses.

What does EN 1621-2:2014 Level 2 mean?

EN 1621-2:2014 is the European standard for back protectors. Level 2 is the highest level within this standard and offers more protection than Level 1. Sir Lancelot back protectors meet EN 1621-2:2014 Level 2.

What is the difference between EN 13158 and BETA certification?

EN 13158:2018 is the official European performance standard and the legal minimum requirement for body protectors in the EU. BETA is a British quality label that builds on the EN standard by requiring annual re-testing and additional quality controls.

Sir Lancelot body protectors fully comply with the strict EN 13158:2018 Level 3 requirements and are tested by accredited laboratories such as Alienor Certification and SGS. Although we do not hold a separate BETA licence, we voluntarily carry out multiple extra inspections and tests every year to guarantee consistent quality and the highest level of safety.

Do body protectors offer 100% protection?

No. No body protector can guarantee 100% protection against injury. Our protectors are designed and tested to significantly reduce the risk of certain injuries in the event of a fall. The actual level of protection depends on the severity of the fall, fit, and how the product is worn.

Are Sir Lancelot body protectors approved for competitions?

Our body protectors meet EN 13158:2018 Level 3. Whether they are allowed in competition depends on the rules of the specific federation (KNHS, FEI or foreign federations). Always check the competition rules.

Use, Fit & Care

Why is a good fit so important?

A body protector only offers optimal protection when it fits correctly and stays in place. An incorrect size can shift or leave gaps. Always use the official Sir Lancelot size chart and measure carefully.

How do I care for my body protector?

Follow the care instructions on the label. In general: do not tumble dry, do not dry clean, and avoid extreme heat.

Legal Information

Are the products approved as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)?

Yes. Sir Lancelot body protectors and back protectors are classified as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) under Regulation (EU) 2016/425 and carry the required CE marking.

What is the warranty on Sir Lancelot products?

You are covered by the legal warranty for non-conformity. In addition, we offer a reasonable commercial warranty on manufacturing defects. For complaints, please first contact the seller. For questions, you can reach us at sales@sir-lancelot.nl.
